Wow. There have rarely been weekends during which we have learnt so much as here!!
We arrived in Bilbao and took a Taxi to our hotel located 20 mins away in Santurtzi. On arrival there we noticed that our hotel was actually a mini castle - super fun, we felt like in a fairytale!
After checking in we went to have lunch in the town center (have you ever tried Iberico Ham with truffle-cheese croquettes?! *still drooling*). We also learnt that in Basque Country the language is quite different to “normal” Spanish or even Catalan.
Having arrived back at the hotel, we got ready for our first lesson with Korke and Judith - the masters of Bachata Sensual. I must say, we had been looking forward to this weekend for a really long time. And it wasn’t just about the dancing. It was excitement to travel, to finally meet some of our mentoring group in person. To see common faces again and to make new friends. To be inspired and just maybe, to also inspire others. I won’t go into the details of the course itself, if your interested in taking the course yourself, go and visit https://www.bachatasensual.com/be-instructor/ I promise you, it is worth every cent. I will say one thing though, the focus was - as a teachers course should be - not primarily focused on improving our own dancing skills, but on improving our teaching skills! What we are taking home with us from this weekend is a HUGE repertoire of tools to help us pass on our passion to others in the best way possible. For this we are eternally grateful, to Korke and Judith and to Evelyn la Negra for their knowledge, their passion and their expertise. But it all wouldn't have been the same without the incredible energy of each and every one of the talented participants from all over the world. I think I speak for both of us when I say I have seldomly felt so welcome, so understood and so respected. As a student, as a dancer, as a team-mate and as a friend.
Thank you to everyone who made this weekend so enriching. Muchas gracias y hasta pronto familia!! ❤️
